The First attempt of an establishment of standard requirements to durability of the plane concerns the end of 1916 At RIB the Commission concerning norms of durability has been created. Under the direction of N.E.Zhukovskogo as a part of G.A.Botezata, V.P.Vetchinkina, G.I.Lukjanova, With. P.Timoshenko and its other members the commission has held two sessions.

From the beginning of activity RIB became the centre of research works on aero- and hydrodynamics.
