In the summer of 1912 it has constructed new biplan ' Gakkel-ViIi ' (the modified plane ' Gakkel-ViI ') and the first in Russia under-inert a monoplane ' Gakkel-Ix '. In July G.V.Alehnovich has made on this monoplane in Gatchina some successful flights with the passenger. On new biplane it has acted with demonstration flights in Vyazma, Smolensk, Gomel, Kursk. It would Seem, both planes Gakkelja have successfully passed tests before the competition beginning. However before the competition Jacob Modestovich has decided to put on the planes the new engine, more powerfully.
Not checked up earlier in work, it has appeared unreliable. Put back ' Argus ' also did not manage to be adjusted. Probably, also conscious diversion of its competitors about what I - later wrote M.Gakkel to the memoirs here took place. In completion of all the fire in its workshop in the end of 1912 has destroyed both its planes. Without having received prizes at competition, I. M.Gakkel had already no means for restoration of a workshop and independent construction самолетов.
On April, 25th, 1914 it has submitted the patent demand for the project biplana with two engines located on a wing. Jacob Modestovich has made the project of the basis joint-stock ' Societies of Russian flying machines ' (EAGLE), wishing to interest any capitalist for financing of construction of the invention. but that, probably, was not. During the same time the Baltic ship-building and mechanical factory was ready, in the presence of the order from voennogovedomstva, to begin construction ' the fighter aircraft ' under the project I - M.Gakkelja.
